Colonization is about body and soul, we gain independence manual for the body both forgot to ask the key to our soul.
I think africa and Nigeria expecially is suffering from schizophrenia and by extention romantic with colonization. Indeed crises is everywhere. Every corner you turn has always stench of crises brewing somewhere, between a leader and his people in a country, continents and superpowers, neighbors etc. It either somebody isn’t listen or playing boss and sometimes crisis emanate when their is clash in ideology, opportunity to lash out at a rival.
Sitting in a dark square shaped room of mine got me in that mood again and I asked this simple question. What happened to our identity? Looking at it from a dress sense, everything we put on is not even ours. Our attire has being relegated to season occasion parol, an apparel labelled old school and when only to show off biennial,only when their is a party or get together of some sort. Couples prefer to wear the suit and white gown and this get me to ask, are we still being colonise? Cos that what it is seems like.
Different event happenings in africa get micro coverage by our media, I mean ‘their’ media because we dont own them any more or maybe we never did. People want to find out what europe and americans are eating and have they eaten at all. What cloth have they giving their permission to wear and which design and designer god should we be queueing after.
I thought we gained independence and no country in africa is still under anybody but why do we still appreciate foreign products over ours, truth be told I dont get it. Our people says they are leaving their own country for better life and at the same time they are being constantly being humiliated at the embassy of the americans and europeans, dieing to cross the mediterranean sea. Our people are not wailing and crying to be wisk away to be colonized in this countries but we are celebrating and kicking at being colonised once again in europe and america. We have no love for our continent not even for our country. I never knew we have people like donald trump in the USA until they showed us on national television, now I know that we have a Gov Fayose in every country.
Our U-23 football prayers got to rio in brazil late and for their first game, the venezulan anthem was played. Somebody on social media commented that in a country where an ambassadorial nominee can’t sing properly the country’s anthem, we shouldn’t be surprised. This bring to rubbish the NYSC Scheme and our schooling system. Who it epp? This is tragedy
Local content in my country, the giant of africa. I wont show disrespect calling her the baby goat of africa because we the people have neither pride in ourself nor support our own. Even our food is getting foreign names and our chefs are terrible cook as we have labelled them. I think our identity has suffered enough. Someone joked that even potato fried in Nigeria by mama onome,we still call it french fries, arkward!
What happened to us as a people?What happened to our stories? Gone are the days I read growing up about the tortoise and it tricks. Moral content have disapeared from our television and radio, but we dropped the ball discussing frivolities. Our stories are being told by people who never understood stood it. Hollywood we hail thee, they continue to show us why we need to be gay. Why sleeping with other mens wife is no problem. Why exposing the endowment is no problem but fashion. We are still being colonised in our own country and continent. Telemundo and koreans soaps are twerking in most african ladies and african values is lost.
We prefer to take our children out of the country to view other part of the world no problem but how many states and cities have they visited locally but we chant the slogan our country and leaders are bad and terrible, what about you who doesn’t cherish his own.
Our universities can’t compete and isn’t good enough. What and Who are they producing? We need to battle our mind first. We need to tell ourselves we are not second class to nobody and anybody.We need to stop feeding europe and america but feed ourselves. Our engineers need to start building and stop sitting and thinking until the chinese comes. Our doctors needs to step up and as for our leaders who patronise outside market depending on who colonize us,they need to lead and stop misleading, they need to start thinking and be great thinkers. Africa and Nigeria need to stop being an all comers market. The attitude should be if you are not building it here – leave.
Biafra people need to know and understand Nigeria belong to everyone. As anybody care to ask why the two region where Nigeria can and dig oil are where we have crises, the Niger Delta and Chad(borno). We need to start deciding our own fate. Our education deserve better and we deserve better not schadenfreude by those pretending to us.
